Fears and Phobias

Protection is a reaction that has evolved over millions of years, the ‘flight or fight’ mechanism that motivates us to act. We are programmed for survival, our unconscious is geared to move us away from pain or danger. While the fight-or-flight response is still helpful if you need to escape from a burning building, it’s anything but helpful when you are trying to respond to the stresses of modern life that can provoke fear and this response, in the case of fears and phobias be counterproductive, hold us back and keep us from enjoying our lives as much as we might like to.

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, usually defined as a persistent fear of an object or situation the affected person will go to great lengths to avoid, typically disproportional to the actual danger posed¹

How can hypnosis help with fears and phobias?

The fear or phobia response is a learned response. As it is learned, it can also be unlearned.  Because there are different types of fears and phobias, each person’s hypnotherapy treatment is unique. I use a variety of techniques and methods to help you live at relative peace. I will also retrain your brain to be less sensitive to the object. By guiding your subconscious mind to process the uncomfortable sensation like it does everyday unconscious automated functions, I can help you to see the situation in a way which is no longer threatening.
